Terms of Service

Last updated:
Draft: not yet reviewed by a lawyer. This document describes how Lissn is actually built and intended to operate, so it is a realistic starting point rather than boilerplate. It still must be reviewed and finalised by qualified counsel, and every [SQUARE BRACKET] placeholder filled in with the real operating-entity details, before Lissn is offered to the public.

These terms govern your use of Lissn, a marketplace connecting people who want to talk ("Seekers") with trained peers who listen ("Buddies"). By using Lissn you agree to them.

1. Lissn is peer support, not therapy

This is the most important term here, and it is not boilerplate. Buddies are screened and trained peers, not licensed mental-health professionals. They do not diagnose conditions, prescribe treatment, or give medical, legal, or financial advice. Lissn is not an emergency or crisis service and is not monitored around the clock. If you are in danger, see Safety & crisis help.

2. Who can use Lissn

3. Acceptable use

Full detail is in the Community Guidelines, which form part of these terms. In short, you may not use Lissn to harass, threaten, abuse, solicit, deceive, or exploit anyone; to present yourself as a licensed professional when you are not; to move a conversation off-platform in order to evade our safety measures; or to record a session without the other person's explicit consent.

4. Sessions, payments and fees

5. Buddies are independent contractors

Buddies are not employees, agents, or representatives of Lissn. They choose whether, when, and with whom to work. Lissn provides the platform, screening, training, and safety tooling; it does not direct the content of any individual conversation. Buddy-specific terms are in the Buddy Terms.

6. Content and confidentiality

7. Suspension and termination

You may stop using Lissn and delete your account at any time. See Delete your account. We may suspend or terminate an account that breaches these terms or the Community Guidelines, or where we reasonably believe someone's safety is at risk. Where a Buddy account is deactivated, earnings already accrued for completed sessions are still paid out, except where they relate to fraud.

8. Disclaimers and limits of liability

Lissn is provided "as is". We do not guarantee that a session will make you feel better, that a particular Buddy will be available, or that the service will be uninterrupted.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Lissn's aggregate liability to you is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you paid us in the three months before the claim, or (b) ₹5,000.

Nothing here excludes liability that cannot be excluded under Indian law, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.

9. Changes

We may update these terms. Material changes will be notified in the app before they take effect. Continuing to use Lissn after that means you accept the updated terms.

10. Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of India. Courts at have exclusive jurisdiction. Before filing anything, please contact our Grievance Officer, see Contact & Grievances; most issues are resolved there.
